1. Who We Are

GlitchRealm Games is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making game development education accessible to students everywhere.

We operate glitchrealm.ca, a browser-based gaming platform where students and indie developers can publish their projects and reach real players.

2. About GlitchRealm EDU

GlitchRealm EDU is our educational program—not a separate legal entity. It operates under GlitchRealm Games as an initiative to bring hands-on game development learning to students.

Through GlitchRealm EDU, students learn programming, design, and project management by building real games that get published on the main GlitchRealm platform.

3. What We Do

3.1 Hands-On Learning

Students create browser-based games using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. They learn by doing—not just watching tutorials.

3.2 Real Publishing Opportunities

Every project built through GlitchRealm EDU can be submitted to our main platform at glitchrealm.ca. Student games appear alongside other community submissions, giving young developers real experience publishing for an actual audience.

3.3 Free Hosting

We provide free hosting on the GlitchRealm platform for all EDU projects. Students don't need their own servers or paid accounts—we handle the infrastructure so they can focus on learning and creating.

3.4 Community and Mentorship

Students join a community of creators where they can share ideas, get feedback, and learn from each other. Our goal is to foster collaboration and mutual support among young developers.

4. Our Commitment to Education

GlitchRealm Games is nonprofit and focused entirely on education. We believe learning happens best when students work on real projects that matter.

  • We do not charge students to participate in GlitchRealm EDU
  • We do not sell student data or projects
  • We provide free tools, hosting, and resources to remove barriers to learning
  • We prioritize accessibility and inclusivity in everything we do

5. How Students Participate

Students working through GlitchRealm EDU follow the same submission process as any other community member:

  • Create a game using browser technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Submit their project through our game submission form
  • Games are reviewed by our team to ensure they meet basic quality and content standards
  • Approved games are published on glitchrealm.ca and accessible to all visitors

Student projects are treated with the same respect and visibility as any other submission on our platform.

6. Accessibility and Inclusion

We are committed to making game development accessible to everyone, regardless of background, location, or technical resources.

GlitchRealm EDU is designed to work in schools, libraries, community centers, and at home. All you need is a browser and an internet connection.

7. Nonprofit Status and Fiscal Sponsorship

GlitchRealm Games is fiscally sponsored by The Hack Foundation (d.b.a. Hack Club), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 81-2908499).

This means donations to GlitchRealm Games are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. All funds we receive go directly toward supporting our educational mission—providing free tools, hosting, and resources for students.

8. What We Don't Promise

We are transparent about what we can and cannot guarantee:

  • We do not guarantee employment, scholarships, or financial rewards for participation
  • We do not guarantee that every submitted game will be accepted or featured
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted service availability (though we work hard to keep things running smoothly)
  • We do not claim ownership of student projects—creators retain their rights to their work

Our goal is to provide valuable learning experiences and publishing opportunities, not to make promises we can't keep.
